About Lisa

My name is Lisa King and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My life's journey, spanning time living overseas in places like Taiwan and Costa Rica and my own experience healing from trauma, has shaped me into the therapist I am today: honest, direct, compassionate and unwavering in teaching and upholding healthy boundaries.

I founded Formosa Wellness on a core belief: that every one of us possesses a unique and beautiful core, or a "beautiful island," within. Formosa is the historic name for Taiwan, meaning beautiful island, a place that profoundly shaped my upbringing. My practice is dedicated to helping you access that authentic self, even if it feels hidden after years of trauma.

My clinical focus is on Religious Deconstruction Therapy and working with individuals healing from religious trauma, as well as Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). With over 30 years of diverse experience, I recognize that healing is a nonlinear journey. I do not hold all the answers, but I commit to partnering with you - to walk alongside you as we discover what truly works for you to reclaim a transformed and helpful life.

Mission

To partner, collaboratively, with individuals healing from Complex Trauma, Religious and Spiritual Abuse, providing an integrative, safe space where profound transformation is possible, and hope is restored. My mission is to guide clients in reclaiming their foundational sense of safety, power and self-identity to build a future defined by clarity and authentic connection.
